Mrs. Joan Nordhagen

2010 Francisco R. Walker Teacher of the Year Nominee

Mrs. Joan Nordhagen was selected by her colleagues to represent Ludlam Elementary School as the school’s nominee for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ 2010 Francisco R. Walker Teacher of the Year Award.  A teacher at Ludlam since 2004, Mrs. Nordhagen strives to ensure success for all of her third grade students.  She integrates real world experiences into an enriching classroom environment and provides students with incentives through her “Reader of the Week” and “Fun Friday” programs.  As the school’s nominee for the 2010 Teacher of the Year Award, Mrs. Joan Nordhagen sets an excellent example for the entire Ludlam Elementary community.

 

Mrs. Aubrey Sanchez

2009 Sallie Mae Rookie Teacher of the Year Nominee

As Ludlam Elementary School’s art instructor, Ms. Aubrey Stoneking-Sanchez is the school’s nominee for the 2009 Sallie Mae Rookie Teacher of the Year Award. She employs a variety of instructional techniques when exposing her students to the fine arts.  She provides her second through fifth grade students with numerous opportunities to interact with a variety of artistic techniques and mediums.  Ms. Stoneking-Sanchez utilizes state-of-the-art technology when sharing the lives and works of renowned artists with her students.    She is dedicated to supporting her students’ achievement of high academic expectations and enhanced artistic development.  Ms. Stoneking-Sanchez’s classroom is a gallery where student artwork is always on display.

Ms. Aubrey Stoneking-Sanchez’s dedication to the students of Ludlam Elementary School extends far beyond the school day.  She coordinates the school’s art club and facilitates an annual “Night of the Arts” to showcase student achievements in music, drama and the visual arts.  She has been instrumental in garnering resources for her program from local businesses as well as the artistic community.

Ms. Cynthia Conover

2009 South Central Regional Center Support Personnel/Paraprofessional of the Year Nominee  

Ludlam Elementary School is proud to announce that Ms. Cynthia Conover, a paraprofessional in the school’s Teaching Outreach Parent Support (TOPS) Program, has been selected to represent the South Central Regional Center Support Personnel/Paraprofessional of the Year Nominee.  Ms. Conover’s patient and compassionate nature, when combined with the specialized skills acquired during her four years as a Special Education paraprofessional makes her the ideal mentor and role model for special needs students.   Whether she is conducting a small group activity in her classroom or assisting in a school wide extracurricular event, Ms. Conover is a vital member of the Ludlam Elementary School community.  Her dedication to her job is exceptional. 

Ms. Conover’s day does not end when her students go home.  She often remains after hours to assist with school wide events and activities.  Cynthia Conover’s compassion, dedication and professionalism enhance the lives of her students.  She accomplishes her goals with dignity, integrity and determination and serves as an excellent role model for both her students and her colleagues.
