2012 Summer student reading activities

Click here to learn about the Summer Literacy Adventure!

May 21, 2012

Dear Parent,

With the end of the school year quickly upon us, we know that you are making plans for your child's summer vacation activities. We have developed a summer reading list and activities for your child to complete during his/her summer vacation.

The guidelines for the program are simple. Your child will be required to read two books over the summer and complete an activity for each book.  Each grade level has been assigned one mandatory book to read and the students must read one other book of their choice from the list provided.  Behind this letter, you will find the required reading list and the activities to complete. These assignments will be graded upon return to the school in August.

We hope that you will encourage your child to read over the summer months. There are several ways to buy or borrow your child’s summer readings.  These are some stores or websites which can be used to secure the books:

Barnes and Nobles Bookstore, Book Barn Book Exchange,  www.amazon.com, www.overstock.com, www.half.com, www.cheapestbookprice.com, and any Miami Dade County Public Library (West Dade, Kendall, South Miami).
We hope that you will join us in this important effort and assist your child in further developing a love for reading.

Sincerely,

Dr. Georgette Menocal                        Ms. Michele Zakis
